WHO IS FATHER FÁBIO DE MELO?
Fábio José de Melo Silva (Formiga, April 3, 1971) is a Catholic priest, artist, writer, university professor, and Brazilian presenter. He belonged to the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He works in the Diocese of Taubaté, in the interior of the state of São Paulo.
As a singer, he recorded eight albums for the Catholic label Paulinas-COMEP, one for the Canção Nova label, and an independent project (Tom de Minas). His first album for a secular label, “Vida,” was released by LGK Music and Som Livre, with whom he continues to record, having released two more albums (“Iluminar” and “Eu e o Tempo” – CD and DVD) by the end of 2009. He briefly signed with the Sony Music label and currently operates as an independent artist, having released highly successful singles in collaboration with prominent Brazilian musicians such as “Quando o sono bater” (with Luan Santana, 2020), “Não desisto” (with Simone e Simaria, 2020), and “Retrovisor” (with Ivete Sangalo, 2021).
In total, Fábio de Melo has sold over 3 million copies of CDs (1.8 million only on Som Livre), in addition to 3.5 million books. As a university professor, he taught theology at the Dehoniana College of Taubaté. Currently, he hosts the program “Direção Espiritual,” broadcasted by TV Canção Nova. In December 2019, he entered the QualiBest institute’s ranking as one of Brazil’s top digital influencers.
