What to Expect
On the first day of the 2 Day 1 Night Kelimutu tour our guide picking you up from Ende. The first stop on the itinerary is Mono. It takes about 2 hours to reach the village, where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of hills and rice paddy fields. From Moni you go to Lisedetu Village where you can see typical traditional houses called Sa’o Ria in the local language. You’ll spend the first night of your holiday in Moni.
It’s an early start the next day. You’ll be picked up from your hotel at 4.00 am and driven to Kelimutu National Park. It takes 1-1.5 hours to reach the viewing point overlooking the tri-colored lakes of Kelimutu. It’s an uphill trek along small paths. It’s easy to get lost, so it’s good you have a guide with you.
You’ll be rewarded with stunning views of the three crater lakes from the viewpoint overlooking Kelimutu. Mist normally hangs close to the lake in the early morning and as it rises you’ll see the lakes change colour. Plus each of the lakes is a different colour. After sunrise your guide will take you back to Ende.
